Weekly Walkable Roundup: July 2025, Week 3

A stroll through sweets, soft color, and city corners

Welcome back to my series, where I explore cities one walk at a time.

Each week, I share a simple mix: one place that caught my eye, one walk shaped by a small theme  (sometimes a color, sometimes a mood or a detail), and one prompt you can carry into your own walk, wherever you are.

Whether you’re wandering through Salt Lake, Provo, or somewhere else entirely, I hope this helps you slow down and see your city differently.

Walkable Find: Wanyen

A new Asian-inspired dessert shop just opened in downtown Salt Lake City, and it’s already earned a spot on my go-to list.

Wanyen, a cozy, charming little space serving asian-inspired sweets with flavors that shine. We stopped by and tried:

  •  Ube & black sesame ice cream

  • Mango sticky rice

  • Thai tea

  • Young coconut frappe (so refreshing!)

The shop has a calm vibe, thoughtful presentation, and the kind of treats that feel both nostalgic and new.

📍 Address: 378 W Broadway, Suite 115, Salt Lake City
🚆 How to get there by train: Take the Blue Line to Planetarium Station and it's about a 10-minute walk from there.

If you’re planning a dessert run soon, this spot’s worth the stroll.

This Week’s Color Walk: White

This week’s color walk centers on white, a color often overlooked in cityscapes full of signs, bricks, and bold murals. But slowing down revealed quiet moments where white brought contrast, calm, or clarity.

On a recent visit to Trolley Square, I noticed:

  • White-cushioned patio chairs by Pottery Barn, catching the light just right

  • White streetcar with "801" written on it.

  • The Trolley Square water tower.

It reminded me that color walks don’t have to be bright or loud. White invites us to pay attention to softness and stillness.

Walkable Prompt:

Take a short walk this week with white in mind.
Look for soft, pale, or bright shades in your surroundings, sunlight on a wall, café dishes, crosswalk lines, clouds, or faded signs.

You can snap a few photos or write a quick note. Sometimes, the most subtle colors are the ones that shift your whole perspective.

I'd love to see what you find on your walk this week. Let me know by tagging me (@stopsstepsandsights) on TikTok.

Happy Walking!
