A Car-Free Day Trip from Salt Lake City to Ogden
If you're looking for a walkable day trip with a little bit of art, a little bit of boba, and just enough adventure—Ogden's got you covered. Just hop on the Frontrunner and you’ve got a full day of fun, no car needed.
Getting There: The Frontrunner Ride
We started at Salt Lake Central Station, where we boarded the frontrunner northbound to Ogden Station. The train ride takes about an hour and offers a relaxing way to leave the city behind for a day. Once we arrived, everything we wanted to see was within walking distance—no transfers, no stress.
First Stop: Boba on Historic 25th Street
📍Pearl Milk Tea Club
110 25th St, Ogden
Our first stop was just a short walk from the station: Pearl Milk Tea Club, located on 25th Street. This boba shop is welcoming, and full of fun flavors (like horchata & sea salt cream). My friend and I both got the taro slush. You really can't go wrong with that. It’s a great little place to start the day and fuel up for your walk around town.
A Quick Pause at the Ogden Amphitheater
From there, we wandered over to the Ogden Amphitheater, a public green space that hosts the popular Ogden Twilight concert series. Even though there was no show happening when we went, it's a peaceful place to sit, relax, and take in the downtown energy. I absolutely love this venue, and have seen a handful of artists here, such as, TroyBoi, Phoenix, Metric, and Louis the Child.
Exploring The Monarch
Next, we made our way to The Monarch, a beautifully renovated industrial building that now serves as a hub for local creatives. Inside, you’ll find artist studios, small shops, and event spaces. It’s one of the coolest spots in town, whether you're just wandering through or visiting for a specific event.
While there, we stopped at Art Box, a hands-on art boutique where you can create your own custom candle. You get to choose the mold, wax colors, scents, and even trinkets (to place on top). It’s such a fun, creative activity that doubles as a souvenir. I've been here a few times and have made different themed candles. This time, I opted for a "sea side" theme.

Pizza from The Lucky Slice
With some time to spare before our candles were ready, we headed over to Lucky Slice for some pizza. Known for its giant slices and quirky topping combos, it’s a local favorite for a reason. We grabbed a couple of slices and enjoyed the casual vibe before making our way back to pick up our candles.
Wrapping Up: Candle Pickup & Art Stroll
Back at The Monarch, our candles were ready, looking super cute, and smelling amazing. To close out the day, we joined the Art Stroll, a local event that brings together art, music, and community energy every first Friday of Month from 6-9 pm. And this time, we made paper bouquets.
There’s something really special about seeing a city come alive through creativity, and Ogden definitely delivers that.
Why I Loved This Trip
The whole day was walkable, easy, and fun—with good food, local art, and a change of scenery. If you’re looking for a simple, slow-paced escape from the city, this Ogden day trip is well worth adding to your list.
